Unlike other domain name registration companies, NameSilo doesn’t adjust prices for customers when renewing domain names; it offers a fixed price, and you can find various coupons online. Obviously, this seems to be an attractive feature that sets it apart from many other domain registrars.

As an SEO (Search Engine Optimization) practitioner, I understand the importance of selecting a high-quality hosting server. Initially, I opted for Siteground as my hosting provider. However, I had to reconsider my choice since I don’t have a VISA card. Later, I stumbled upon Namesilo and extensively researched their services through Google, Baidu, and YouTube reviews. I discovered that all the feedback I encountered was overwhelmingly positive.

As mentioned earlier, the reasons for choosing Namesilo were:

  • Convenience: Namesilo provides a one-stop-shop for SSL, hosting, and domain name services.
  • 24/7 Online Support: This feature excites me as an eGuide blogger who has no programmer support. Online assistance saves me significant work hours.
  • Affordability: Like most people, I am attracted to cost-effective solutions. It offers cheap domain names and hosting services, and I can even apply Namesilo coupons for additional savings.

Unfortunately, after using Namesilo I found that it was not advantageous. Instead, it had a negative impact on my experience, and I felt quite frustrated.

Shirk responsibility

At the start of my website, I noticed that it loaded slowly and often encountered problems opening. Therefore, I contacted customer service to identify the issue and find a solution. However, the Namesilo customer service repeatedly responded with “It has nothing to do with me” and provided a screenshot of my website. This made me feel like they were shifting the blame onto me. Allow me to explain the situation in detail:

  1. To start, TechSparks is a new site with minimal content and no plugins, eliminating any possibility of operational errors on my part.
  2. Furthermore, I chose Astra as the website’s theme, which focuses on being lightweight and fast. This rules out any problems arising from the theme’s weight.
  3. Lastly, when I tried to access other websites, they opened normally, proving that the issue wasn’t with my internet speed.

Upon inquiring about the website’s loading speed, the customer service representative did not address my question and simply responded with “Sorry, I didn’t find any problems with your website” after I managed to access TechSparks. This occurred multiple times, and they failed to provide an explanation despite my ability to access other websites without issue. This has left me feeling frustrated and displeased with the online service provided by Namesilo.

Originally, I wanted to provide the chat logs with Namesilo customer service, but for some reason, I can’t open it.

Due to the frequent problems with the loading speed of the website, which could not be resolved, I chose to change the hosting server and move to Site Ground, which is obviously a correct decision. As you can see, you can enter the website normally without freezing or failing to open it.

Beat around the bush

DNS resolution is required after purchasing a domain name and hosting server, but as someone who is using Namesilo for the first time, I found it difficult to do so and had to seek help from customer service. However, it seems that some of Namesilo’s customers have a misunderstanding of the term “service” and provide unhelpful answers like “squeezing toothpaste”.

Different people may have different opinions on this matter, some may think that I am making a fuss out of a minor issue, while others may agree with me. I’m here to briefly outline my dissatisfaction with Namesilo.

For basic questions regarding operating procedures, customer service provides standard answers, which are basically copy-pasted when customers ask them questions. When I asked about DNS resolution, the response I received was too general and did not help me complete the operation. So, I asked for a detailed process, preferably with a flow chart, and the customer service representative immediately sent me one. I was frustrated and annoyed that they had this information all along but did not provide it to me earlier. This has happened to me more than once.
